Sometimes you just get a feeling about a couple - you click instantly, and they feel like old friends rather than wedding photography clients. Kayleigh and James are one of these couples - from the moment we first spoke over Skype about photography for their upcoming wedding at Walcot Hall, I knew they were going to be F.U.N.
So when James emailed me sneakily to cook up plans for a surprise "re-proposal" during their planned engagement shoot in Snowdonia, I was even more excited! Kayleigh had no idea, but James had commissioned a beautiful engagement ring to be hand made, and it was ready just in time for our engagement shoot in Wales.
James and I came up with a trigger phrase to let me know when he was about to pop the question - he was going to say something along the lines of "this location is MINT". He certainly kept me hanging - leaving it until after we'd played around with smoke bombs (a practice run for some smoke bomb wedding photography at Walcot Hall), and until the sun was nearly setting. We were walking along the beach at Harlech, and suddenly there it was - MINT - my cue. And then he was down on one knee, and I was literally crying a little bit behind my camera.
Kayleigh was clearly totally surprised, and over the moon - she kept saying how much the ring was like her Grandmother's ring. I felt so lucky to have played a part in the surprise, and am so happy to be able to share the photos from our beautiful beach engagement shoot.
