Destination wedding photography Spain
Albion and Tania’s Spanish wedding was my first of two very different European destination wedding photography bookings in 2018. This Spanish wedding had everything: a stunning location in an olive grove, beautiful boho wedding decor, a brilliant crew of pretty raucous guests AND a fancy dress soul train the next day.
A weekend-long wedding
To honour Tania’s Spanish heritage, and in the hopes of having a lovely hot Spanish destination wedding, Albion and Tania had chosen to rent the stunning Finca La Llum villa on the outskirts of Biar, in the Alicante region for their weekend-long celebrations.
Starting the party gently on the Friday with an evening BBQ, guests lounged around the villa pool enjoying the golden hour sunshine while Tania and her family put the final touches to the décor for the next day.
The wedding day started in a beautiful old Air BnB that the couple had rented in the nearby town of Biar. The narrow cobbled streets, sandstone walls and wooden shutters were a perfect backdrop for some ever-so-Spanish wedding photography.
First Look Wedding Photography
As a lovely touch before everyone left for the ceremony, Albion and Tania decided to do a blind first look. Instead of actually seeing each other, they stood hidden from each other at the corner of a nearby building and exchanged love letters. It was my first time doing anything like a first look, and watching them read their letters was super emotional!
Handmade wedding décor
So much thought had gone into the wedding décor, with Tania having made a stunning boho macramé wedding backdrop as well as macramé chair décor. The villa gardens were decked out with festoon lights and banquet tables in preparation for a late evening meal after the ceremony.
Unfortunately as we returned from taking some photos in the olive grove, the clouds gathered and an almighty rainstorm descended. Understandably, everything went a little bit wobbly for a minute while everyone rushed to move everything inside, but it only took someone whacking “It’s raining men” on the sound system, and a crisis was averted!
Fancy Dress Wedding Photography
After a pretty raucous wedding party, you might be forgiven for thinking that Sunday was for relaxing by the pool, nursing hangovers and eating fried food. But Albion and Tania had a different idea: Sunday was SOUL TRAIN SUNDAY, a day full of incredible 70’s wigs, some pretty jazzy flares and a lot of people peacocking their way down the Soul Train. Oh, and let’s not forget Albion getting his beard shaved by guests whilst wearing the most gigantic afro wig I’ve ever seen.
All in all, the most brilliant wedding EVER.
