Ali and Joey had booked me to be their wedding photographer from Melbourne, Australia where they live, and as they were only arriving shortly before the wedding we didn’t get a chance to do an engagement shoot. Luckily I had shot Ali’s sister’s wedding at Walcot Hall last year, so we weren’t total strangers!
Calne Free Church Wedding Photography
Ali and Joey said their vows at Joey’s family church in Calne, Wiltshire, in a contemporary service full of feeling. Rather than traditional hymns and organ music, they continued with the modern theme by opting for a church band, which really gave some energy to the songs they had chosen!
The church was great from a wedding photography perspective as it had a door right at the front, so I could sneak from the front to the back without disturbing anyone or drawing attention to myself.
The couple must have brought the weather with them from Australia - it was absolutely red hot, so it was lucky that they had booked a local ice cream vendor to come and treat everyone to some nice refreshing cones after the church service.
Church Farm Wedding Photography
The couple had chosen the absolutely gorgeous Church Farm Weddings in Kington Langley, Wiltshire for their wedding reception, which offered so many amazing wedding photography opportunities! The owners, Will and Kate, were very accommodating and even let me hang out of one of their bedroom windows to take a big group shot of everyone!
After enjoying prosecco and music in the flower garden, everyone moved down to the meadow where the marquee was set up - sounds pretty idyllic right?! And believe it or not, it got better, with the most beautiful low light during before sunset giving us a chance for some lovely golden hour wedding photography!
